Celebrities are always encouraged to utilize their star power for a good cause, and David Arquette was recently honored for doing just that. The actor's dedicated volunteering efforts for the non-profit The Art of Elysium have earned him the organization's Spirit of Elysium Award, which he was honored to receive.
At the event, which fittingly took place a day before the Golden Globes, Arquette spoke with ET about receiving the award for the foundation, which is dedicated to encouraging creative-minded people to share their talents and time with children who are victims of grave medical conditions.
"I'm very humbled by being recognized," he said on Saturday night's red carpet. "Art of Elysium does such incredible work, so to be able to be here and be part of this incredible celebration is really an honor."
Arquette, who was granted the award by Art of Elysium for "his years of volunteerism and tireless fundraising efforts on [their] behalf," revealed the profound experience he'd had with Art of Elysium that led him to become an avid volunteer for the organization.
"Once you interact with the kids on a personal level, it sort of changes your life. It's very touching," the 41-year-old actor said. "It's an amazing opportunity to help them just get lost in their creativity for a moment."
Arquette was joined by a group of celebrities at the event, which was sponsored by Ciroc. Rachel Bilson, Julianne Hough, Kelly Osbourne, Mena Suvari, and prior Spirit Award recipient Elijah Wood all brought their star power to Art of Elysium's 6th Annual Heaven Gala.
