Orion Filming in Detroit

Crews for a post-apocalyptic movie starring David Arquette were filming “Orion” at the sprawling ruins of the Packard Plant today and Wednesday.
It was among six filming locations in metro Detroit, but crews said the abandoned Packard was by far the most bizarre.
As crews set up lights and cameras in some of the most crumbling parts of the Packard, thieves were stealing metal from the plant, and photographers from around the globe were traversing the dangerous landscape, moving in and out of the set, which was marked with yellow caution tape.
The Packard, one of the largest abandoned buildings in the world, is a fitting location because Arquette plays a savage hunter who traverses a wasteland without infrastructure. The plant is 3.5 million acres of concrete ruin.
Other abandoned buildings were part of the shoot, including the old Grand Trunk Storage warehouse at Ferry and St. Aubin.
Arquette couldn’t be reached for comment but crews said he was at the Packard.Shooting is expected to wrap up today.
