From sewing to photography, Hollywood funny man David Arquette gives MyFDB the inside scoop on his growing fashion venture. His line, Propr Clothing began in the spring of 2008 when Arquette and his friends, musical artist Ben Harper and former creative director of Original Penguin David Bedwell, came together. Propr Clothing, known for their quirky, yet stylish take on the classics is made in America and will take any casual look to the next level of stylish. We talked to David to get to know Propr Clothing a little better.
How did the three of you collide to create Propr Clothing?
We’ve all been friends for some time and have wanted to do something together and the time just presented itself to be right.
After talking about the line, how did the name and concept come about?
David Bedwell got it from an old French spelling and we wanted it to be misspelled anyway…We all like classic inspired, timeless things so that runs throughout our collections.
What made you want to handle all of the photography yourself? Also, with so many great locations in LA, why did you decide upon shooting everything at your home?
We each contribute to all things creative, and this [photography] is something I do anyway. Our house is a Quincy Adams designed home and is a perfect setting for our brand.
I participate in every aspect of the company. We all do…I even sew!!
What’s are key interchangeable pieces from the brand’s latest collection?
Wovens and t-shirts.
If you could could collaborate with anyone in the fashion industry, who would it be and why?
[Besides] the ones I’m collaborating with now…Rag & Bone and Band of Outsiders [because] they both have a similar DNA with Propr and are made in America as well.
A special thanks to David Arquette for giving MyFDB all the deets. For more information on Propr Clothing, visit their official website.
